The MCW Moonshot Summit was out of this world, really. With a shared sense of urgency, participants collaborated and fleshed out  substantial moonshot components that would make the mission other worldly effective.

Phyllis Holder, MSN, RN, Founder of Sisters 4 Cure, Inc., delivered a welcome address, lead a breakout session on Disparities and Barriers to Clinical Trials and participated on the Discussion Panel on What Public and Private Partnerships and Resources Are Needed to Make Our Cancer Moonshot Happen. The Medical College of Wisconsin's Moonshot Summit was fortunate to have cancer survivors at the planning tabling including Sisters 4 Cure volunteer community health workers and advocates Linda Bryant, Vanessa Simmons, Mary Herd, Lucy Farris and Gylnis King. Sisters 4 Cure participants advocated for moonshot results that will be as incredible as the moonshot science.  Phyllis Holder reached participates with her request for magnificence from refining and accelerating the process of cancer surveillance and treatment be just as remarkable in its equity as evidenced by a decreases in cancer occurrence and mortality in underserved communities with heavy cancer burdens.   

The MCW report will give substantial moonshot impact suggestions to Vice President Biden and the Moonshot Taskforce. The afterglow of over 100 cancer moonshot summits simultaneously launched across the nation on the same day makes it seem possible that sustainable local and national partnerships will commit to fuel the mission over the next 5 years.

Everyone agreed that now is the time to eliminate cancer as we know it with agreement and belief that President Obama's Moonshot will also eliminate hurdles and barriers to equitable access and treatment.
